It seems that I often hear about the various amounts of push-ups, pull-ups and "crunches" that my athletes perform on their own when away from the gym.
And quite frankly I applaud the ambition to better themselves for their respective sports.
But........ if you were to ask me............ "what should I do?"
Look no further than "Lombard's Paradox"......... The old school body weight squat!
A majority of sports require, sprinting, jumping, bounding, pushing and pulling while on your feet and decelerating or bracing yourself.

MAKING STRIDES

Just sharing some training vids of two Seneca Valley lacrosse players, Jake McAndrew and Adam Kelley. These guys show up ready to train and ask no questions. They "MAKE" the time to prepare for the upcoming season. Their schedules are full with school, work, indoor lacrosse and any travel teams they may be on. It the right step towards success!
There will be more to come from these two!

TOO Hard TOO?
So, with all of the great infomercials out there boasting 10min. workouts and the laughable "muscle-confusion". I wanted to give you a FREE Workout! All you need is your body! That's right NO equipment!
GPP: General Physical Preparedness
Here is my man "G" performing one, 2 minute round for the camera! He usually does 2 or 3 rounds as a warm-up! All athletes should be able to bust this out for 3 rounds! It will be the best 6 minutes of your life! LOL!
Here is a crazy thought! Perform 1 round of GPP, then hit the jump rope for footwork for 2 min. and then back through the GPP! Mix and match as you feel comfortable with your level of fitness!
I think that's called muscle confusion?

TOO Hard!

Over the years, I've been asked about the various "things" a young athlete can do on their own with little supervision to assist in their training.
My answer: Jump Rope! That's right, jump rope. Sounds simple, yet over the years it seems less and less young athletes can jump rope correctly and have the rhythm to establish a consistent pace to work up a good sweat!
I'm not about to rewrite history here so you can read more about the benefits and learn some basic jumping patterns here!
Pick up a rope...........and jump!
